Bio
Carmel McGlone is one of New Zealand’s most renowned actresses, she has performed in theatres across New Zealand and Australia winning multiple awards & nominations including best Actress and Outstanding Performer. She has been nominated in the NZ Television Awards for her work on productions such as Marching Girls, Plainclothes and Send a Gorilla.
Some of Carmel’s screen highlights include Cowboy Bebop for Netflix; LOTR Rings of Power for Amazon; local productions My Life is Murder, Wellington Paranormal and the Emmy award-winning on-line TV drama Reservoir Hill. Feature films include Walt Disney Studios The Light Between Oceans, Vanguard Films Hook, Line & Sinker and the recently released feature Bad Behaviour written and directed by Alice Englert. Upcoming projects include comedy horror film Barbed Wire Canoe and Taika Waititi’s new series Time Bandits for Apple TV+.
Carmel has a BA (Music and Drama) from VUW. In 2011 she was granted a prestigious fellowship to work at Shakespeare’s Globe in London and in 2014 Carmel received an Arts Council grant to attend a four-month training program with Master theatre Trainer, John Bolton. When not acting she is working as Senior Tutor at Te Auaha performing Arts Centre and a regular tutor at NZ Drama School: Toi Whakaari.
