Bio

Jeff Szusterman is an award-winning actor, director, and educator with over 25 years of experience. A graduate of Toi Whakaari o Aotearoa: NZ Drama School, Jeff worked to acclaim on Wellington stages before traveling to the US to train and work with Shakespeare & Co. in Massachusetts.  Returning to New Zealand in 2004 Jeff has built a strong reputation not only as an actor but an actor’s advocate (Equity NZ).

Theatre highlights include: Taking Sides (won Best Production), Tzigane (nominated Best Newcomer, and won Best Production), Not About Heroes (winning “Drammy” for Best Actor, Portland Drama Critics, OR), Take Me Out (a critically acclaimed performance as Mason Marzac and noted as one of the best of 2007 by theatre critics and audiences alike) and Close City.

Screen highlights include: feature films - The Shirt, 6 Days & Juniper and TV series such as, Legend of the Seeker, Power Rangers, Ash v Evil Dead, Shortland Street, The Gulf, The Brokenwood Mysteries and Kid Sister S1 & S2. Late 2023 will also see Jeff again on the big screen and Television, both productions are yet to be announced. 

 Jeff is also the director of AYA Drama (https://www.ayadrama.com/) one of Auckland’s leading drama schools for young people. Jeff Szusterman was raised Jewish, of Polish-Ukrainian descent.
