Bio
John Bach has a prolific body of work in film, television, and stage. Known for his lead role in the 1985 series, Roche, his on-screen credits total over 120 films and shows including kiwi classics Good Bye Pork Pie (1980) and Utu (1984) both by renowned director, Geoff Murphy. John was also involved in some of the world's highest grossing films, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers & Return of the King, and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. John played the lead roles in the Duggan series (1997-1999) and The Sound and the Silence. His theatrical credits range from experimental theatre in London, to Christchurch's Court Theatre.
Bach's more recent work includes his role in the first season of Roman Empire (2016) as Marcus Aurelius, Graham King on the third season of Janet King, the Judge on TV movie, Mistress Mercy, as Mayor Jock Johnson in The Light Between Oceans, and Jack in Reunion. It’s no wonder they call him ‘John the Don’- in 2021, he appeared in Rebecca Gibney’s comedy series, Under the Vines, and in 2024 in Loren Taylor’s feature film The Moon is Upside Down - both as Don.
