Bio
Industry powerhouse, Kate McGill is a dynamic, expressive, and innovative actor with swathes of experience on stage and screen.
Her recent career highlights include her standout performance as Candace in Spinal Destination (Great Southern Television) starring Bree Peters and Thomas Sainsbury, Millie Lies Low by Michelle Savill (Sex Education), and Shortland Street.
Her many theatre credits include playing the eponymous Joan in both the Circa Theatre, and Auckland Theatre Company productions directed by Tim Gordon. She also created Weave: Yarns with New Zealanders, a verbatim play with Alice Canton, and has performed in many Shakespeare productions across the country.
A graduate of New Zealand’s top drama school, Toi Whakaari, she continues to hone her craft, most recently with world-renowned acting coach Les Chantery (Aus).
When she’s not acting, Kate is also a sought-after casting director (Raised by Refugees, Madam, We Were Dangerous), and a writer/director having directed seven episodes of Pax Assadi’s Raised by Refugees alongside other directors such as Madeleine Sami (The Breaker Upperers, Gold Diggers) as well as a co-directing credit on an episode of THREE's Madam, starring Rachel Griffiths and Martin Henderson.
