Luciane Buchanan has quickly become a rising star in Hollywood, known for her compelling performances and dynamic screen presence.
Buchanan is best known for her breakout role as Rose Larkin in Netflix’s global hit “The Night Agent.” Starring alongside Gabriel Basso, she portrays a young cybersecurity entrepreneur who becomes entangled in a complex conspiracy after seeking protection from the FBI. The series debuted in March 2023, shattering streaming records in its first week. Season 2, which premiered on January 23, 2025, continues to follow Rose and FBI agent Peter Sutherland as they navigate new threats and deeper intrigues.
Buchanan is also featured in Apple TV+’s epic historical drama “Chief of War,” staring opposite Jason Momoa. Set in 18th-century Hawai’i, the series follows the unification of the islands from an indigenous perspective, with Buchanan portraying Ka’ahumanu, a powerful and influential queen who played a pivotal role in shaping Hawaiian history.
She was also recently cast in Evil Dead Burn, the highly anticipated sequel to the horror film Evil Dead, for Warner Brothers and Sony. The project is currently in production.
Her on-screen career began with the biopic Billy, in which she played the daughter of comedian Billy T. James. She went on to star in “The Blue Rose” and appeared as a core cast member in two seasons of “Filthy Rich” for the BBC. She also led Netflix’s “The New Legends of Monkey” as Tripitaka, further solidifying her range across genres.
Born in Aotearoa (New Zealand) and of Tongan descent, Buchanan began her acting journey with Fiona Edgar at TAPAC’s “Acting for Screen” course. She later pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and Psychology at the University of Auckland while continuing to hone her craft.
