Bio
Mark Hadlow, ONZM, is one of New Zealand's most prominent actors. With nearly 40 years as an actor he has performed and directed over 150 plays, and has made innumerable appearances in feature films, television series, commercials, and as a voice actor. Playing the dwarf Dori in The Hobbit Trilogy, which was Mark's third Peter Jackson movie. In Meet the Feebles he voiced Heidi the Hippo and Robert the Hedgehog. King Kong saw him performing the role of Harry in the vaudeville scenes opposite Naomi Watts and Bill Johnson. The latest Peter Jackson movie Mortal Engines saw him playing the standout character, Stigwood. The auctioneer. He played alongside New Zealand comedian, Billy T James in The Billy T James Show.
He has sung in many Musical Theatre productions including My Fair Lady, Mr Cinders, Jesus Christ SuperStar, Chicago, Kiss me Kate, Sweeney Todd, Rocky Horror Show, Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum with John English. In March 2018 he completed a co-lead role with Jed Brophy in Stef Harris's latest thriller film Blue Moon. It was included in the official selection at Cannes in 2021.
Mark has won several awards, including Best Supporting Actor in a Television Comedy Series for Willy Nilly, playing the role of the challenged brother Harry in the three-season, top-rating sitcom. In 2019 he was cast as the leads in Elling and The Father at the Court Theatre in Christchurch, and his long-standing production MAMIL has entertained the theatre going public for over a decade.
