Bio

Thomasin McKenzie is a dynamic young actor from New Zealand whose career spans an extraordinary range of critically acclaimed international projects across film and television.

She stars in Joy, directed by Ben Taylor, opposite Bill Nighy and James Norton. The film premiered at the BFI London Film Festival and is currently streaming on Netflix. She also appeared in Mona Fastvold’s Ann Lee, opposite Amanda Seyfried, and in Eileen, directed by William Oldroyd and co-starring Anne Hathaway, which premiered to rave reviews at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.

Her previous film work includes standout performances in Edgar Wright’s Last Night in Soho (with Anya Taylor-Joy and Matt Smith), Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog (opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Kirsten Dunst), and M. Night Shyamalan’s Old. She also starred in Taika Waititi’s Oscar-winning Jojo Rabbit, alongside Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell, and in Justin Kurzel’s True History of the Kelly Gang with George MacKay. Additional credits include Liz Garbus’ Lost Girls for Netflix, opposite Amy Ryan, and David Michôd’s The King.

On television, Thomasin led the Australian dark comedy Totally Completely Fine for AMC+, and starred in the BBC’s historical drama Life After Life.

She first gained international recognition for her breakout role in Debra Granik’s Leave No Trace, opposite Ben Foster. Her performance earned her a Critics’ Choice Award nomination and the National Board of Review Award for Breakthrough Performance.

Due for release in 2026 are several projects, including Victorian Psycho, The Rage (a Blumhouse production), and Self Portrait, reuniting her with director Mona Fastvold.

Widely regarded as one of the most exciting and versatile young talents in Hollywood, Thomasin continues to build a career defined by bold choices and compelling performances.
