Gary Young has made his debut in STARZ Outlander, playing the controversial Ti Yien Cho. 

The portrayal of the Chinese character, who becomes a confidant of the lead Jamie, was criticized in the book for its shallow and stereotypical portrayal. 

However, Gary's portrayal on the hit series is winning fans (including us, obviously!). He was key to the deeper development of the role, as executive producer Matthew B. Roberts told Buzzfeed: 

"Gary Young, the actor who plays Cho, was also essential in the redrafting of his character, changing his dialect from Mandarin to Cantonese, Young’s native language".
