Bio

Greg Johnson is a multi-award-winning New Zealand actor. His career spans over three decades and his resume includes over 16 feature films, 26 television series and hundreds of stage performances with New Zealand and Australia’s leading theatre companies.

Feature film highlights include The Piano, directed by Dame Jane Campion; Warner Bros USA’s Yogi Bear; The World’s Fastest Indian, directed by Roger Donaldson; The Patriarch - Mahana, directed by Lee Tamahori; and The Insatiable Moon, for which Greg won the Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Feature Film at the Aotearoa Film & Television Awards in 2011.    ……Greg fell into the role like a natural and blew away the opposition...the oaths and curses rolled off his tongue in the same way that others use prepositions. His beautifully underplayed version of Bob conveyed exactly what we were looking for. Insatiable Moon writer/producer Mike Riddell

TV series include City Life (winning Best Supporting Actor at the NZ Film & Television Awards) and international productions for US streaming giant Netflix series Roman Empire: Caligula and Power Rangers: Dino Thunder. Greg was also a finalist at the 2015 script writers’ awards for best new writer.

Greg is a regular on stage working with numerous theatre companies throughout New Zealand and Australia.  His most recent production occurred in 2023, in the stage production Things That Matter for ATC, Auckland’s premier theatre company.  Another notable highlight includes his participation in nearly 400 performances of Shakespeare across three seasons with the infamous New Zealand Pop-Up Globe in both New Zealand and Australia.
