Bio
Emilio Mancilla is a Mexican actor and writer based in Aotearoa New Zealand. He is a 2024 graduate of Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School and most recently in 2024 appeared as 'A'lo' in A REMARKABLE PLACE TO DIE, a thrilling international crime drama for Acorn TV, as well as joining the cast for Joshua Prendeville's film OUR PARTY starring Thomasin and Davida Mckenzie.
He is making his feature film debut as the lead role in NOTES FROM A FISH, directed by Tom Levesque and Romy Hooper, due for festival release in 2025 (NZIFF) .
On stage, Emilio has taken on challenging roles in Fucking A, Mr Burns, and in 2025, he premiered his debut play TECUANI for which he was nominated for BEST EMERGING ARTIST in the Fringe Awards 2025. Emilio is currently developing his second play GUIDO, a dark two-hander set in 1920s New Zealand.
Fluent in Spanish and trained in a wide range of performance style, Emilio brings depth, boldness, and sharp instinct to every project he joins.
