Bio
Marshall Lorenzo is a comedy writer back home in New Zealand after writing the debut season of Canada’s Drag Race, produced by the Emmy Award-winning creators of RuPaul’s Drag Race. He is the former head writer of the multi-Canadian Comedy Award-winning troupe The Sketchersons. Known for their famous show Sunday Night Live, modeled after Saturday Night Live, the show features local artists and comedians including celebrities such as Tom Green, Tim Baltz (The Righteous Gemstones), Carolyn Taylor (Baroness Von Sketch), Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk), Scott Adsit and John Lutz (30 Rock), Paul Brittain (Saturday Night Live), James Adomian (Comedy Bang Bang), Scott Thompson and Kevin McDonald (Kids in the Hall) and even Brett ‘The Hitman’ Hart (that was a tough one).
Marshall is also a writer and performer for the sketch comedy troupe Panacea, which garnered rave reviews and a 5N rating in Now Magazine for their self-titled debut show, and was named top 5 shows to see at the 2015 Toronto Sketchfest. He is part of the 2019 Canadian Comedy award-winning ensemble queer sketch show Extravaganza Eleganza which was named one of the 2018 Now Magazine top 5 comedy shows to watch. He’s performed regularly in the Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival and was picked for the ‘Best of the Fest’ showcase in the 2018 Montreal Sketch Comedy Festival as a solo comedian, and more recently in the 2019 JFL Solo Sketch Showcase.
Marshall also wrote the book and lyrics to a sixty-minute disco musical about Marineland for the 2015 Toronto Fringe that critics hated, garnering reviews such as “Why disco?” and “WTF”. Marshall is a graduate of the Second City Conservatory and in 2014 was nominated for the Second City Tim Sims Encouragement Fund Fresh Meat showcase. He likes three things: vodka.
