Bio
Vanessa Stacey has over twenty-five years of experience in Creative Arts and Arts Education. Having worked extensively across the Music, Television, Theatre and Film industries. A graduate of both a CPIT Jazz School and Toi Whakaari. After returning from five years working in the U.K. as a musician, TV presenter and actor whilst managing her own production company, producing youth content for Channel 5 Television.
Vanessa has appeared in various Film and Television shows, including the acclaimed 'Out of the Blue', 'How to Murder Your Wife', and most recently both seasons of 'Under the Vines. Vanessa has directed Whitireias’ Screen Acting Course and has been an artist in residence and guest tutor for Massey, Ucol and Toi Whakaari.
While working as an actor, writer, producer, director, publicist, tour management, festival curator and producer both independently and with The Drop LTD for large-scale events including Tora Tora Tora Festival, Erupt Arts Festival, Home Grown and Summerset. Before joining the Creative Capital Artist Trust, Vanessa is the current Ngā Toi and Indigenous programmer for CUPADUPA and the Director of the New Zealand Fringe Festival the largest multidisciplinary arts festival in Aotearoa. In July Vanessa will be heading to Melbourne to devise and direct a short film for The National Drama School before returning to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August.
