Thomasin McKenzie cast in 'The Power of the Dog'

Thomasin McKenzie has just been announced as part of the cast for the upcoming Jane Campion film, The Power of the Dog. Thomasin joins an already impressive cast including  Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons and Kodo Smit-McPhee.

Jane Campion has written the screenplay, and is directing the adaptation of the 1967 novel by Thomas Savage. The plot follows wealthy Montana brothers Phil (Cumberbatch) and George Burbank (Plemons), who are two sides of one coin. Phil is gravceful, brilliant and cruel where George is stolid, fastidious and gentle. Together they are joint owners of the biggest ranch in the Montana valley. When George secretly marries local widow Rose (Dunst), a shocked and angry Phil wages a sadistic, relentless war to destroy her entirely using her effeminate son Peter as a pawn.

Netflix, which picked up the worldwide rights to the film at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, will release the film in 2021 in theaters and on its platform. Transmission Films will release the film theatrically in Australia and New Zealand.
